If you are passionate about saving lives and want to take your skills to the next level, becoming a certified CPR and AED instructor allows you to train others in these critical life-saving techniques. But what does it take to become an instructor, and where do you start?

In Singapore, CPR and AED instructor courses are accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC). To enrol in an instructor training course, you must first hold a valid provider certification from an SRFAC accredited training centre. For the CPR + AED Instructor Training Course, a valid CPR + AED provider certificate is required. For the BCLS + AED Instructor Training Course, a valid BCLS + AED provider certificate is required.

The Instructor Training Course covers the principles of teaching, learning and evaluation, methods of instruction and assessment, learner safety and hygiene, disinfection and infection control during training, and practical teaching of CPR and AED techniques across all age groups. Participants learn to instruct on single rescuer and two rescuer techniques, interpret high performance recording results and provide constructive feedback to learners.

Upon completing the classroom training, participants must undergo two compulsory class attachments before being endorsed as a full instructor. The instructor certificate is valid for two years and is renewable subject to the instructor conducting courses at least twice per year at any SRFAC accredited training centre.

First Aid and Healthcare Academy is one of the few accredited Instructor Training Centres in Singapore certified by SRFAC. We train and certify the next generation of life support instructors in Basic Cardiac Life Support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation for infants, children and adults.

Whether you are a healthcare professional looking to expand your scope, a fitness instructor or sports coach seeking additional qualifications, or simply someone who wants to make a greater impact in your community, the instructor training course opens up a rewarding pathway in emergency care education.
