Course Overview
This course is designed for individuals who hold a current and valid Occupational First Aid Course certificate and wish to renew their certification before expiry. The refresher programme covers all core topics required for workplace first aid proficiency in a condensed format, reinforcing critical knowledge and practical skills for experienced first aiders in compliance with Regulation 5(2)(b) of the Workplace Safety and Health (First Aid) Regulations, which requires appointed first aiders to undergo such subsequent re-training as the Commissioner may require.
The programme refreshes participants on essential first aid principles, management of unconscious casualties, respiratory emergencies, shock, bleeding, wounds, musculoskeletal and burn injuries, medical emergencies, management of casualties exposed to hazardous chemicals, and identification of common workplace accidents requiring first aid treatment. Participants will also undergo reassessment in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an automated external defibrillator, with practical competency evaluation to ensure continued readiness.
This course does not award Safety Development Unit (SDU) points. Under the revised SDU framework effective 1 January 2023, refresher and repeat occupational first aid training are not eligible for SDU points.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a renewed Occupational First Aid certificate valid for two years from the date of completion.
Who should attend:

-
Appointed workplace first aiders whose current Occupational First Aid certification is approaching expiry, Company Emergency Response Team members requiring certification renewal, and any individual holding a valid OFAC certificate who is required to maintain first aider status in the workplace.
